Coffee Scrub for the Coffee Snub!

But first coffee! Whether you are stripping back the layers as the warmer weather hits or hiding away under your ski gear your skin will thank you for this little DIY number. I love coffee, and yes I am a bit of a snob when I order my coffee beans (Personal Fav: Johnny Cash by Lonsdale St Roasters. I get my beans sent all the way from Canberra up to Darwin!) Instead of discarding the coffee grinds why not save them up and make this amazing coffee scrub! It's simple, it's recycling and it's cheap!

Coffee beans

What you need : Ground coffee beans Coconut Oil

Sugar

Cinnamon

How you knead it together: You can be pretty flexible in the quantities, however, I find this works best!

Mix together 1 cup of ground coffee beans, 1/2 cup liquid coconut oil, 3/4 cup brown sugar and 2 tsp of cinnamon. You may need to add a little more or less coconut oil, so play with the mixture and see how it feels. You want the mixture to still be a little bit crumbly, and not dripping in oil. Your coconut oil may need to be heated in the microwave first (for those who aren't living in 32 degree heat) to make it easier to mix through. Brown sugar, raw sugar, a variety can be used depending on how course you want your scrub to be. Some of the amazing benefits are: Coffee is rich in antioxidants and is a great exfoliant. Coffee also works as an anti-inflammatory.

Coconut oil is a very light moisturiser and will sink in quickly on your skin without having that sticky feeling all day. Cinnamon has antibacterial properties along with being an amazing smelling spice.
